The strip of worktop behind the tap is the one part of a kitchen nobody manages to keep looking well. Water pools around the base, a folded cloth gets left there permanently, and a patch of limescale and damp sits in full view of an otherwise tidy room.
This mat is made for that narrow, awkward space. Laid behind the tap or beside the sink, it draws in splashes as they land and dries quickly on its own, so wet brushes, soap and washing-up sundries have somewhere to stand. Two lengths are offered — 60 × 10cm and 45 × 10cm — to suit different runs of worktop, in white or dark grey.
It is made from diatomaceous earth, a naturally porous material with a chalky matte surface and a satisfying flat weight to it. The finish is deliberately plain, closer to stoneware than to plastic, so it settles into a kitchen or bathroom without announcing itself. It also works well beside a basin, under a soap dish or beneath a glass in a bathroom.
